Estimates from your device location. Distance can miss movement during signal gaps. Set up before moving and let a passenger handle the screen.

Check train speed on your phone
Open the tool while you are on the train, press Start and allow precise location if your device offers that choice. A position near a window may help reception. Keep the page visible for updates.
The tool does not look up a train number or track a train remotely. Its result follows the phone that is running the page.
Tunnels, stations and missing readings
In a tunnel or covered station the device may stop providing usable locations. Xpeed shows a signal gap and leaves current speed blank when readings become stale. It does not infer the missing section of the journey.
A stopped train can produce a valid zero. Average trip speed includes elapsed time; moving average uses accepted movement time. Pausing manually excludes the paused period from the active measurement.
Questions and answers
When does the browser ask for location?
Press Start to request location. If you have already allowed this site, measurement can begin without another prompt. A blocked permission must be changed in your browser or device settings.
What does a dash mean?
A dash means Xpeed has no usable recent reading. A measured zero is a valid speed. Returning to the page or moving to a place with better reception may help the device provide a new reading.
