Internet Speed Test

Run an internet speed test for download, upload and TCP round-trip time. Review the M-Lab notice before you start; the test transfers data over your connection.

TCP minimum RTT and RTT variation describe this M-Lab connection. They are not a separate gaming ping or a call-quality test.

Review data use and the M-Lab policy before starting. No measurement connection opens until you agree.

History is off by default. Up to 10 completed results are kept for 30 days. M-Lab collects test data separately under its policy.

This test transfers data to and from Measurement Lab (M-Lab). Data use varies and can be high on a fast connection. Use your connection only if you accept the possible data cost.

M-Lab receives your IP address and measurement data and makes test data publicly available under its policy. Saving local history is a separate choice. Read the M-Lab privacy policy.

Run an internet speed test with NDT7

Start opens a consent and verification dialog. The test contacts M-Lab only after you accept the data policy and continue. It measures download first, then upload using the official self-hosted NDT7 client.

The test may use a substantial amount of data, especially on a fast connection. You can cancel an active test to stop the measurement workers and their network connections.

Read download, upload and TCP timing

Download and upload are shown in Mbps or MB/s. Mbps divided by eight gives MB/s. Final upload prefers a server-received byte count when available; a client estimate is labeled when used.

Ping is the minimum TCP round-trip time reported for the M-Lab test path. RTT variation comes from TCPInfo.RTTVar. These figures do not measure game-server latency, packet loss or call quality.

Data and local history

M-Lab receives test information, including your IP address, and publishes measurement data under its policy. Turning off local history does not prevent this processing.

Xpeed history is off by default. When enabled, completed summaries can be saved on this device. IP addresses are excluded from the default saved summary and copy output.
