Airplane ground speed on a phone
Press Start and allow location if permitted by the crew and the device settings. A browser permission does not ensure the phone will receive a position inside the aircraft.
Flight support is experimental. Xpeed has not been field-tested on an aircraft. A dash means a valid recent reading is unavailable.
Ground speed is different from airspeed
The result is movement relative to the ground. It is not indicated airspeed and must not be used for piloting, flight planning or navigation.
Keep airline and crew instructions first. The tool does not bypass airplane-mode restrictions, locate an aircraft remotely or guarantee reception near a window.
Questions and answers
When does the browser ask for location?
Press Start to request location. If you have already allowed this site, measurement can begin without another prompt. A blocked permission must be changed in your browser or device settings.
What does a dash mean?
A dash means Xpeed has no usable recent reading. A measured zero is a valid speed. Returning to the page or moving to a place with better reception may help the device provide a new reading.
